Cafe Gozo

Gozo is home to the second oldest man-made religious structure, Gigantija temples. They are thought to be 5,500-years-old and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Ġgantija temples in Gozo (the name means ‘belonging to the giants’ in Maltese) were constructed in the Neolithic period (3,600-2,500 BC) making this stone temple complex older than the famous pyramids in Egypt.

There are many much smaller archaeological sites, temples, cart ruts and standing stones. More information and objects can be found in Gozo’s Archaeological Museum, in the Citadel.
